Structure

The Coalition has seven regional groups. These are: North West, North East, Midlands, South West, South East, London and Eastern. You can access each of the regional groups regional pages using the map or the links to the right of this page.

Groups that meet the criteria for membership may register with the regional group for which they find the meetings to be the most accessible. This might not necessarily be the region in which they are geographically based.

Regional assemblies are held at least annually and usually six months before a national Assembly. A group's representative to regional assemblies might be a paid worker, advocate, partner, Management Committee member or other volunteer.

Elected representatives from each of these regions form a the Executive Committee.

In addition to regional assemblies, we also facilitate at least two Worker Support Group meetings per year in each region dedicated to workers from member groups. Attendance at these is restricted to staff from local schemes and groups. The meetings focus on the sharing of good practice and support and development needs.

How the Coalition relates to other advocacy networks

The Coalition recognises that citizen/volunteer advocacy is part of a much wider spectrum or continuum of advocacy. Other networks exist that are looking at the needs of people from specific groups, and not at any one form of advocacy. There are also national and regional groups in existence that promote all forms of advocacy and there are networks for self-advocacy groups. Many Coalition members are also active in any one or number of these other groups.

The Coalition works to ensure effective links with all these groups at both regional and national level. We recognise the importance of working together to ensure that people get the support that is most appropriate to their needs.
