Lead Service Manager - Advocacy

Based in Newham, 37.5 hpw (This post is open to job share)

You'll manage two well established and dynamic advocacy projects and other learning disability projects in the area. With excellent project management skills, you'll bring extensive experience of advocacy work with people with learning disabilities, including those with profound and multiple learning disabilities. With your skills in creative communications, you are flexible in your approach and have an understanding of IMCA and In Control issues.

An excellent networker, you'll report to commissioners and senior managers on a regular basis. You role will include line managing a diverse team, including sessional workers, managing budgets and being involved in strategic learning disability groups within the boroughs and organisation. Advocacy Manager

West Berkshire Advocacy is seeking an experienced advocate to support adults with a learning disability, helping them to speak up for themselves and representing their views.

You will need experience of working with the learning disabled. Good communication skills is essemtial, and you will need to be computer literate.

An enhanced CRB check will be necessary.

  The person we seek will have considerable experience of working in the Independent Advocacy sector and giving 1-2-1 support to people with learning disabilities. They will have experience of empowering them to take control of their lives, have an excellent understanding of advocacy practice and principles, and will have gained experience defending the rights, voices and choices of adults with learning disabilities.
